Discover what makes Morocco Tours so special…We begin in Casablanca founded in the 10th century B.C. Although often associated with nightclub owner Humphrey Bogart in the 1942 movie by the same name, Casablanca is a city of intrigue. Amongst your visits will be the amazing Hassan II Mosque, an outstanding example of Moroccan architecture. Step back in time and discover the important role that Jews played in the history of Morocco. Visiting Jewish sights in Casablanca include the Jewish Quarter and Temple Beth El with its brilliant stained glass windows.
Over the years, the four historic Imperial cities of Fez, Marrakech, Meknes, and Rabat have played a major role in the history of the country and your visit will unravel the history of each. Lets move on to Rabat, the capital of Morocco. Of all the sites to see, the Kasbah built in the 12th century is one of the cities most noteworthy structures. Taking inspiration from the Koutoubia of Marrakech, the Hassan Tower was once Intended to be the worlds largest minaret. Proudly sitting on the Strait of Gibraltar is the port of Tangier guarding the gateway to Africa. Less than 15 kms. away is Cape Spartel which connects the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. Imagine visiting the legendary Caves of Hercules and reading the myth that surrounds the cave.
It is a must to stop in Chefchaouen known as the blue city for its blue dyed houses and shop decorated. What an amazing and magical place to visit. Take a few minutes to walk along the labyrinth of narrow streets and alleyways while the smell of fresh oranges permeates the air. A stop in Meknes founded in the 11th century shows us the massive Bab El Mansour Gate and the Hri Souani complex. There is time to explore Fez and its 17th century Ibn Danan Synagogue and famous Al-Karaouine Mosque. Leaving Fez we journey to the Red City of Marrakech known for its ochre walls. There is nowhere like Djemaa El Fna with its snake charmers, story tellers, dancers and water sellers. Recognized by UNESCO, this "L" shaped square buzzes with activity.
Time to prepare for Shabbat as you join members of the congregation at the Bet El Synagogue. Afterwards enjoy dinner at Hazzan and Mrs. Ohayons home. You can also attend Saturday services at the Slat Laazama Synagogue followed by Shabbat lunch renewing the importance of Jewish presence in Morocco.
Your visit would not be complete without stopping to see the Berber villages nestled in the Atlas Mountains. Stop for tea in the Ourika Valley while enjoying the beautiful scenery and terraced gardens climbing the steep hillsides around you. From Marrakech we head to Essaouira with its UNESCO recognized walled Medina. Afterwards we continue to the fishing port of Safi and the coastal village of Oualidia proudly sitting beside a natural lagoon, the perfect spot to relax.
